Nagpur: The delay by Nagpur University (NU) in holding summer examinations and announcing results has begun affecting students seeking admission to postgraduate courses. Many NU students are struggling to meet admission deadlines across the country. In one such case, a final year BSc student from a Gondia college affiliated to NU travelled nearly 400km to Indira Gandhi National Tribal University (IGNTU) at Amarkantak in Madhya Pradesh for admission to an MSc Zoology programme. However, she was initially denied admission as NU is yet to issue her sixth-semester marksheet despite examinations concluding on June 11.The aggrieved student called up the NU exam section officials. The IGNTU officials spoke with their NU counterparts and sought official communication regarding the pending BSc final year result. They also sought details about when the result will be declared. The student broke down multiple times while narrating her ordeal to TOI. While the NU has provided the communication sought by IGNTU, the student’s admission remains in limbo.“I travelled nearly 400km to secure admission, but IGNTU officials refused to consider the application because my sixth semester results are yet to be declared by NU. I was under the impression that I would get a provisional seat. However, the IGNTU insisted on the original marksheet. I cleared my previous semesters, but now my admission is at risk for no fault of mine,” she said.In another case, a BTech student said that the NU has still not issued marksheets from previous winter exams, hampering his chances of securing admission at another institute. Also, a high number of results of final year students are being withheld, sources said. A whopping 30% results of the BCom programme has been withheld. The result of a commerce stream student applying for LLB through CAP was also withheld. The student approached NU officials and got corrections done. “What about those who may not know how to approach higher authorities” asked the student’s parents.
