Nagpur: Having crossed the halfway mark in distributing Enumeration Forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), the district administration is now racing against time to accelerate the digitisation process. Only around 2% of the information has entered the digital system so far, senior officials said.Even as Booth Level Officers (BLOs) continue door-to-door visits across the district, election officials are now shifting their focus towards accelerating online submissions and digital processing of the collected forms.“As completed forms are received, the records are being uploaded to the digital system. Going forward, greater emphasis will be placed on synchronising field collection with digitisation so that the exercise progresses seamlessly,” a senior official said. The official said BLOs will continue to focus primarily on household visits, while the administration strengthens coordination with personnel handling digital data entry. “To improve field coverage, election officials are also working closely with the Nagpur Municipal Corporation’s property tax department, whose staff are familiar with local neighbourhoods, residential layouts and occupancy patterns. Their local knowledge will help BLOs locate households, particularly in areas with frequent tenant movement, while the verification itself will continue to be carried out exclusively by the BLOs,” the official added.Sources said field-level challenges have also affected the pace of the exercise. Many BLOs, who are schoolteachers, resumed classroom duties after schools reopened and are carrying out election work alongside their teaching responsibilities. Intermittent monsoon showers have further disrupted door-to-door visits in several parts of the district, delaying the collection of completed Enumeration Forms and even their distribution.Officials said citizens can submit their Enumeration Forms online as well through voters.eci.gov.in, where successful submission generates an acknowledgement and reduces manual processing. The month-long SIR, which began on June 30, will continue until July 29. The draft electoral roll will be published on August 5, followed by the claims and objections period till September 4. Hearings will continue till October 3, while the final electoral roll is scheduled to be published on October 7.
