Surat: A third FIR has been registered against members of the Sagar Sonawane alias Maniya Dukkar gang following the murder of BJP leader Jay Dalal, with police invoking stringent provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) in the latest case.According to the FIR registered on Saturday, the case involves allegations of criminal intimidation and extortion. Police have invoked Sections 308(5), 308(2), 296(b), 351(3) and 54 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). The alleged offences took place between July 12 and Sep 12.The complainant, Faisal Pathan, approached police after being threatened and pressured over a period of time. According to the FIR, the accused allegedly demanded money from Pathan and threatened him and his family with dire consequences if he failed to pay.Pathan told police that he had previously met Dukkar and his aide Bunty Dayawan in the Bhathena area, where Dukkar allegedly demanded protection money from him. He allegedly threatened to kill Pathan and his family if the money was not paid.The FIR further states that on July 12, while Pathan was waiting for an autorickshaw to travel to Udhna station, Dukkar and three associates arrived in an SUV. The accused allegedly abused and threatened him before extorting Rs 4,540 from him. They also warned him to leave the city if he did not want to pay them money in the future.This is the third FIR registered against Dukkar since his arrest in connection with the murder of BJP leader Jay Dalal earlier this month. Following his arrest, he was also booked under the Arms Act. In another case, Limbayat police booked him for allegedly extorting money from a builder.
