Dharwad: Revenue minister Krishna Byre Gowda on Monday said that the state govt has issued a notification for the recruitment of 750 surveyors to strengthen land survey operations.He acknowledged a brief delay in the recruitment process due to internal reservations but assured that the matter would be resolved shortly and appointment orders would be issued soon. Chairing a review meeting on the progress of pauti khata (mutation of property in the names of legal heirs) in Dharwad, the minister said the department is equipping surveyors with modern rover equipment to speed up land surveys and ensure real-time, accurate results.The govt has decided to provide laptops to village accountants (VAs) to further improve efficiency at the village-level and reduce delays in issuing certificates, he added.Byre Gowda said that under the Bhu Suraksha Scheme, the revenue department has digitised 64.5 crore land ownership documents. With the initiative, citizens no longer need to visit govt offices for ownership records and can download them directly from the website. All records are being scanned and securely preserved to prevent complaints of missing or concealed documents. The digitisation process will also help to curb forgery and the creation of fake land records, he said.Highlighting the department’s achievements over the past two years, the minister said title deeds have been distributed to over 2.5 lakh families who owned houses but lacked formal ownership documents. He announced that title deeds will be issued to another 1.1 lakh families at a programme scheduled for Feb 13 in Haveri.At the meetingChairing the meeting of officials, Byre Gowda said that several public-friendly programmes have been implemented in the revenue department, bringing in many reforms. The process of effecting pauti khata (mutation of property in the names of legal heirs) for the families of the deceased has been progressing well.
