BJP MLA Maithili Thakur puts Bihar minister on spot over dilapidated govt hospitals

PATNA: A folk singer and the first time BJP MLA from Alinagar in Darbhanga district, Maithili Thakur not only raised the question regarding the dilapidated condition of government hospital in her assembly constituency, but also noted that the reply given to her question by health minister from her party’s quota Mangal Pandey was not satisfactory.She, in her starred question posed on Friday, pointed out that the two-room hospital was in a dilapidated condition. Earlier, it had two MBBS doctors to look into the cases of patients as part of treatment, but now it had two Ayush doctors. She demanded that the hospital concerned should be provided with two MBBS doctors.When asked by Speaker Prem Kumar from the BJP quota if she had received the online reply to her question, she said in the affirmative, but out her supplementary questions.“I am not completely satisfied with the answer, Because it is written that the building is not in a bad condition. It just needs to be repaired,” she said.While the reply from health minister Pandey said that the hospital has been repaired, she, in her supplementary note, pointed out that she had personally inspected the hospital and found that its building was not in good condition. She reiterated her demand regarding the posting of two MBBS doctors.Further, she explained that the hospital catered to the needs of around 50, 000 people from around 15 panchayats and could also benefit the people of adjoining Ghanshyampur block.Thakur, who belongs to the Mithila culture of Darbhanga and Madhubani districts had come into the notice of PM Narendra Modi and Union Home minister Amit Shah early in her political venture, said that she, right from his childhood days, had heard about the Bihar health minister Mangal Pandey. She, in the same vein, requested the health minister to take some steps to improve the condition of the hospital in her assembly constituency.
