In a shocking turn of events, a government school teacher from Buxar has been handed a life sentence for his involvement in a murder case. Dwarika Pandey was convicted of taking Mahesh Kumar’s life over a financial disagreement. The judge not only imposed a significant financial penalty but also mandated compensation to be paid to the bereaved family.

Buxar: A court in Buxar on Tuesday sentenced a govt school teacher to life imprisonment in a murder case.Additional public prosecutor (APP) Binod Kumar Singh said the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge-II, Manish Kumar Shukla, convicted the accused, Dwarika Pandey (47), under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for the murder of one Mahesh Kumar.Pandey is posted at primary school Bhadsari under Brahmpur block of Buxar district.The court also imposed a fine of Rs1 lakh. In case of default of payment, the convict will have to undergo an additional six months of simple imprisonment.According to the prosecution, the incident took place on March 26, 2024, following a dispute over money. Kumar was allegedly taken by the accused and he was later found dead.An FIR was registered the next day, and after investigation, police submitted a chargesheet under Sections 302 and 201 of the IPC. During the trial, the prosecution examined eight witnesses. After evaluating the evidence, the court held Pandey guilty and awarded him life imprisonment.The court also directed that Kumar’s family be provided compensation as per legal provisions and ordered that the period already spent by accused in custody be set off under Section 428 of the Code of Criminal Procedure. The judgment was pronounced on April 7, while the sentence was awarded on Tuesday.
