Noida: Noida Authority has banned waste dumping between 10pm and 4am and deployed patrol teams following complaints of waste being left unattended for days. The move also targets unauthorised scrap dealers operating across the city and follows a directive from the National Green Tribunal to curb night-time dumping.The scrap dealers have been dumping waste across several locations including the Pushta floodplain, farmers’ plots in Sector 58, both sides of the Hindon between Greater Noida West and Noida, Bahlolpur, Chhijarsi, Nangli Wajidpur near Sector 135, Sector 137 and Sorkha, among others.An Authority officer on special duty, Indu Prakash, said, “We have received information that a group of scrap dealers is charging people to collect garbage and then dumping it at key locations. NGT has also objected to this matter and the CEO Krishna Karunesh has issued an order for deploying a patrol team at each of Noida’s 10 work circles to curb the issue.”This patrol team consists of a junior engineer and two staff members from a partnering NGO, accompanied by security personnel for protection against potential threats from scrap mafias. They will monitor designated areas on a daily basis and impose penalties on violators.The officer said that keeping the city clean is the Authority’s priority. “We had caught a vehicle dumping garbage in Sector 50 just two days ago,” he said. “We are hopeful that these patrols will help us catch violators.”

Meanwhile, residents of sectors 82, 51, 50, 55, 63 and more have been complaining that waste collected from their houses has not been picked up from the accumulation areas for days. Noida generates about 700 to 1,000 tonnes of municipal waste daily, which is collected from the city and sent to the Sector-145 site for waste processing and disposal.
