Noida: Noida Expressway will soon glow under 1,200 new solar-powered streetlights, with the Noida Authority approving a project aimed at ensuring the key corridor remains illuminated even during power outages.The new lighting system will be backed by a 2.4MW battery energy storage system (BESS), providing reliable power supply to keep the lights functioning when the regular grid supply fails. Authority CEO Krishna Karunesh said the project would also raise the lux levels of streetlights along the expressway, improving visibility and road safety for motorists.Officials said some stretches of the expressway occasionally plunged into darkness during power outages. The new system is intended to eliminate such interruptions and ensure consistent illumination along the busy corridor.The project is part of the Authority’s wider plan to install smart streetlights across Noida and is being executed by Tata Projects. The company has so far installed 76,366 LED lights across the city.The Authority last week also launched the “Noida Smart LED Light” mobile app, allowing residents to report non-functional lights and other faults.
