Noida: The Gautam Budh Nagar electorate — covering Noida, Dadri and Jewar constituencies — is set to shrink from 18.7 lakh to around 15 lakh in the final roll, a steep correction that follows weeks of scrutiny of voters.The drop was even steeper at the draft stage. During publication under Special Intensive Revision, the electorate had fallen to 14.3 lakh, wiping out nearly 4.4 lakh names from the earlier count. The number is now expected to recover modestly after fresh applications were processed, taking the final figure to a little over 15 lakh. The district has an estimated population of 25 lakh.Officials said around 76,000 applications from new voters were received till March 6. Of these, nearly 73,000 were accepted and would be added to the final roll.A large part of the revision exercise centred on voters flagged during scrutiny. Official data showed that 6.2 lakh notices were issued across the district’s three assembly segments. This included 1.7 lakh unmapped voters and 4.5 lakh marked for logical discrepancies in the database.Among the constituencies, 2.6 lakh notices were issued to voters each in Noida and Dadri while those in Jewar got 1 lakh. After scrutiny, the final roll is expected to carry about 15 lakh voters in all — 8.2 lakh men, 6.8 lakh women and 50 third-gender voters.Dadri will have the largest electorate at 6 lakh, including 3.3 lakh men, 2.8 lakh women and 34 third-gender voters. Noida follows closely with 5.9 lakh voters — 3.2 lakh men, 2.6 lakh women and 10 third-gender voters. Jewar remains the smallest segment with 3.1 lakh voters, comprising 1.7 lakh men, 1.4 lakh women and 6 third-gender voters. Men outnumber women in all three constituencies.District magistrate Medha Roopam said the process of adding eligible voters would continue even after the final roll is published. “The electorate can expand further as Form 6 applications will continue to be accepted even after publication of the final electoral roll. This will ensure all eligible citizens can register and participate in the democratic process,” she added.The revision, the DM said, was meant to improve both accuracy and transparency. The administration, she added, carried out a detailed, notice-based verification of flagged and unmapped entries to clean up the database while protecting genuine voters.
