Shillong: Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Shillong Mihngi Circle on Tuesday locked an under-construction temple inside the CBI office premises at Mawdiangdiang and issued a one-week ultimatum demanding its demolition, stating that the govt land was allotted only for official use.The KSU said the CBI earlier assured the union that no religious structure would be built on the govt revenue land.Led by KSU CEC assistant organising secretary Jeremiah Pohthmi, a delegation met the CBI DIG, but the talks reportedly ended in a heated exchange after officials did not give a clear commitment. After the meeting, union members locked the temple structure.“After repeated assurances were ignored, we had no option but to lock the temple. We are giving the authorities seven days to demolish it,” Pohthmi said.He said the KSU would take “stronger democratic steps” if the structure is not removed within the deadline.
