Mandya: Deputy commissioner Kumara has assured the public that there is no disruption in the supply of domestic cooking gas in the district and urged residents not to panic or fall prey to rumours regarding shortages.Chairing a meeting with sales officers of major gas distribution companies — Hindustan Petroleum, Bharat Petroleum and Indian Oil —at the DC’s office, Kumara directed agencies to strictly follow govt guidelines while supplying domestic LPG cylinders. He emphasised that companies must ensure that the supply of cooking gas remains consistent with the daily demand across the district.He said a total of 34 LPG distribution agencies are currently operating in Mandya district. He instructed officials from the food and civil supplies department to conduct regular field inspections to verify stock availability and ensure compliance with regulations.Kumara said strict legal action would be taken against any agency or individual found involved in illegal sales, diversion of cylinders, or black marketing of LPG. He also directed distributors to ensure that cylinders are supplied to consumers on priority based on advance bookings and in accordance with the established distribution norms.Clarifying the current situation, the DC said that the daily supply and distribution of domestic cooking gas in the district is functioning smoothly without any interruption. “There is no shortage of cooking gas in Mandya district. Residents need not worry or create unnecessary panic about availability,” he said.Kumara also instructed officials to ensure that essential institutions like anganwadis, schools, hospitals and govt hostels are given priority in the supply of LPG cylinders so that their routine activities continue without disruption.Superintendent of police VJ Shobharani, deputy director of food department Prateek Hegde and LPG distributors from various taluks of the district were also present.
