Ahmedabad: Ahead of Holi celebrations next week, the city police commissioner on Friday imposed orders that ban people from playing Holi with those who are unwilling to have colours applied or thrown on them.In a notification issued under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, police commissioner G S Malik said the order will remain in force from 12am on Feb 28 to midnight on March 7 across the Ahmedabad police commissionerate area. Holi will be celebrated on March 3 and Dhuleti on March 4. Police said that during the festival, large gatherings are usually seen in societies, streets, crossroads, open grounds and public roads. “There is a likelihood of certain persons throwing colours, colour-mixed water, synthetic dyes, mud or oily substances on passers-by, vehicles, and properties,” the notification stated. Under the order, no individual or group will be allowed to stop pedestrians or vehicles on roads for any reason. Throwing mud, colour, synthetic colour, coloured water, or any similar substance on commuters, houses, vehicles, or properties has been prohibited. tnn
