Hyderabad: State-owned miner and India’s largest iron ore producer NMDC Ltd on Friday said its profit after tax for the first quarter ended June 30, 2026, rose 2% to Rs 2,007 crore from Rs 1,969 crore in the corresponding quarter of financial year 2025-26 (FY26). This was on a 2% rise in turnover to Rs 6,795 crore during Q1FY27 from Rs 6,634 crore in Q1FY26.NMDC produced 15.12 million tonnes of iron ore during the quarter, up 26% from 11.99 million tonnes in Q1 FY26, while sales rose 2% year-on-year to 11.73 million tonnes from 11.52 million tonnes.NMDC Ltd chairman and managing director Amitava Mukherjee said the Navratna PSU had begun FY27 on a strong footing, with higher production and improved profitability showing operational resilience and strategic discipline.He said the company was progressing toward its target of producing 60 million tonnes in FY27 and scaling up to 100 million tonnes by 2030.“Our focus is now on scaling volumes, improving productivity and unlocking greater value from our mineral resources. As India moves towards a larger and more self-reliant industrial economy, NMDC will continue to play a central role in securing the iron ore needed for the nation’s next phase of growth.”
