Kolkata: NKDA has started a door-to-door survey for physical verification of self-assessment of property tax and trade licence of residential and commercial buildings in New Town and cross-check with the NKDA records for tax payment, and issuance or renewal of trade licence.NKDA on Thursday issued a notice, asking land and building owners to provide information and allow physical verification by the representatives of a CA firm, engaged to carry out the survey. “The aim is to update NKDA data for proper assessment and valuation of property tax. Some residents were earlier found to have paid less tax and the status of structures constructed on a land not updated,” said an NKDA official. The survey will also assess 1,000-odd residential buildings, suspected of violating land-use norms. The move is aimed at curbing the unauthorised conversion of residential properties into commercial places. “ We will know the exact figure of violations by next month,” said the official.
