Bokaro: In a decisive mandate, Nirmala Devi emerged as the new chairperson of Phusro Municipal Council, securing a commanding victory after maintaining a lead through all four rounds of counting.As per the official data, a total of 34,612 valid votes were counted, with Nirmala emerging victorious after securing the highest of 12,780 votes, establishing a decisive lead over her nearest rival. The counting was carried out in the presence of candidates and their authorised agents, ensuring adherence to election norms.
Mamta Devi finished second with 10,277 votes, while Beena Kumari secured 6,924 votes. Among the other candidates, Sahodari Devi polled 1,445 votes, Pratibha Devi 1,017, Anu Kumari 605, Sangeeta Devi 587, Phuleshwari Kumari 509 and Shakuntala Devi 468 votes.Soon after the results were announced, there was jubilation among her supporters.Senior officials, including district election officer-cum-deputy commissioner Ajay Nath Jha, SP Harvinder Singh, deputy development commissioner Shatabdi Majumdar, additional collector Md Mumtaz Ansari and returning officer-cum-SDO Mukesh Machhua, monitored the arrangements throughout the day to ensure a smooth and orderly counting process.The administration stated that the counting was conducted in a free and fair manner, with all candidates expressing respect for the democratic process and thanking voters for their participation.
