Jodhpur: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) Wednesday searched the Jodhpur residence of a 19-year-old man accused of acting as an online handler for the terrorist organisation ISIS. The team seized documents and a motorcycle as part of its probe into an alleged online radicalisation and recruitment network. An NIA team from Andhra Pradesh reached the accused Jeeshan’s house in the Nai Sadak area around 10am and searched the premises for several hours. Officials examined bank account details, expenditure records, and information on visitors to the house in recent months. Several documents were seized, and his motorcycle was taken into custody.Andhra Pradesh Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) arrested Jeeshan on March 24 with assistance from the Rajasthan Police. According to Sadar Bazaar SHO Manak Ram Bishnoi, he was arrested near Nai Sadak after his name surfaced during the interrogation of an associate arrested in Vijayawada.Investigators alleged that Jeeshan operated social media groups to radicalise youths and recruit them into extremist networks. They claimed he left one such group after learning of his associate’s arrest in Vijayawada, with whom he had allegedly been associated for nearly two years. The case was subsequently transferred to the NIA.Preliminary findings suggest Jeeshan was highly active online and allegedly promoted extremist ideology. Investigators claimed he cleared an online process to become an administrator of a radical group identified as “BENX” and was tasked with circulating ISIS propaganda and jihadist material.Authorities further alleged that he targeted youths across the country through social media, attempting to influence them with extremist content and recruit them into terrorist networks.
