Rajkot: Police seized more than 26 kg of ganja worth Rs 13.44 lakh in separate operations in Rajkot and Kutch districts.While the Rajkot Rural Special Operations Group (SOG) recovered over 17 kg of ganja from a house in Upleta taluka and booked three persons, the Kachchh East SOG arrested a man with over 9.5 kg of the contraband in Anjar.In Rajkot, the SOG raided the house of 23-year-old Siraj Visar in Chikhaliya village of Upleta taluka on July 7 after receiving a tip-off that ganja was being stored there for sale. The ganja was worth Rs 8.67 lakh.Based on a complaint lodged by PSI GJ Zala, Upleta police registered an offence against Siraj Visar, Nawaz Madhra and Wasim Rafai.Rajkot SP Vijaysinh Gurjar said Siraj confessed that he procured the ganja from Rafai at the behest of Madhra and that the trio planned to sell the contraband jointly. Police are investigating the supply network.In a separate operation, the Kutch East SOG arrested 29-year-old Mukesh Valmiki with 9.54 kg of ganja worth Rs 4.77 lakh in the Anjar police station area.Police said Mukesh is a native of Chichrod village in Bhabhar taluka of Banaskantha district and was living in the Madhavnagar Shantidham area of Anjar for the past few months. Investigators are questioning him to ascertain the source of the contraband and identify the intended recipients.
