Dibrugarh: NHPC lowered the 395-tonne stator of Unit 7 at the 2,000 MW Subansiri Lower Hydroelectric Project on Sept 30.The operation marked progress in the electro-mechanical works of the 250 MW unit and will enable assembly inside the Unit 7 pit and commissioning activities. It was completed through coordinated efforts by the project team and GE Vernova.“The successful lowering of the Unit 7 stator is an important achievement in the electro-mechanical works of the project. The coordinated efforts of the entire team have helped take the unit another step closer to commissioning,” NHPC CMD Bhupender Gupta said.The project has eight 250 MW units. Four are in commercial operation, giving it 1,000 MW of operational capacity. Unit 2 began commercial operation on Dec 23, 2025, followed by Unit 3 on Feb 1, 2026, Unit 1 on March 20 and Unit 4 on May 8.Units 5, 6, 7 and 8, accounting for 1,000 MW, are yet to be commissioned. Unit 5 is being prepared for commissioning, while construction and electro-mechanical works continue on Units 6, 7 and 8.The run-of-river project at Gerukamukh, on the Assam-Arunachal Pradesh border, will have an installed capacity of 2,000 MW at full capacity.
