COIMBATORE: A newborn boy, estimated to be just a few hours old, was rescued after being found buried alive near Arisipalayam here on Monday afternoon.A woman, who was walking her pet dog near the VKC company compound wall around 3.30pm, saw the newborn’s legs protruding from the soil with his body and face partially buried. She immediately alerted a grocery shop owner, who then contacted Babu, a hospital assistant at the Arisipalayam govt hospital.A medical team arrived at the spot, dug out the newborn and provided emergency first aid at the Arisipalayam Govt Hospital. The newborn was later shifted to Coimbatore Medical College Hospital for advanced medical care.Medical officials confirmed that the baby was in a stable condition.The Madukkarai police registered a case and launched an investigation. They were scanning CCTV footage from the surrounding areas to identify and apprehend the people responsible for abandoning the newborn.
