Patna: Patliputra University (PPU) organised an orientation programme for 192 newly appointed teachers engaged on a contractual basis on the recommendation of the Bihar State University Service Commission (BSUSC) at A N College, Patna, on Sunday. The programme was chaired by VC Upendra Prasad Singh.According to PPU registrar Abu Bakar, principals of 16 newly established Rajkiya Degree Colleges under PPU also attended the programme. The initiative aimed to familiarise the teachers with university rules and regulations, academic discipline and the functioning of the university system, he said.The teachers were also briefed on the provisions and implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, including changes in higher education, curriculum framework and academic practices, Bakar said.Speaking on the occasion, Singh said teachers had a great responsibility towards society. “The primary job of teachers is to build future career of students to serve the society and country as the most responsible citizens,” he said, adding that former CM Nitish Kumar had envisioned spreading education to every village in the state.PPU dean of students’ welfare Rajeev Ranjan said Bihar was the only state where every block now had a Rajkiya Degree College.Before the programme, PPU completed verification of the credentials and documents submitted by the teachers, Bakar said. A N College principal Ratna Amrit welcomed the participants, while senior PPU official Shiv Kumar Yadav proposed a vote of thanks.
