AHMEDABAD: A 20-year-old mother of a 10-day-old baby was allegedly stabbed by her husband on Friday for wanting to take up a job to support the family.She is being treated at Sola Civil Hospital for severe injuries to her jaw, neck, wrist and back.According to the FIR filed with Vastrapur police, the woman lives with her husband, mother-in-law, brother-in-law and 10-day-old son.On Friday afternoon, after the husband returned home from work, the woman told him she too wanted to take up a job and contribute to the family finances.Her husband objected, leading to a heated argument that quickly escalated.The woman in her complaint stated that he started abusing her, grabbed her hand and pushed her inside the house.He then allegedly picked up a vegetable knife and stabbed her. She sustained injuries near the jaw, on the neck and wrist and the back, trying to shield herself.Hearing the commotion, her mother-in-law opened the door. A relative living nearby too arrived and freed the woman from the husband’s grip. Another relative called the 108 emergency services.The woman received five stitches near the jaw and three stitches each on the neck and wrist. She lodged a complaint from the hospital.Police have registered a case against the man .
