Patna: The newly constructed campus of Bihar Engineering University (BEU) in Mithapur is ready for operations, bringing the university’s key administrative and academic functions under one roof. Built by the building construction department at a sanctioned cost of Rs 66 crore, the five-acre complex has a G+4 main building designed to improve administrative efficiency and streamline academic governance.The ground floor houses offices of the registrar, deans, finance officer and controller of examinations, besides a centralised evaluation centre and cafeteria. The first floor has the vice-chancellor’s office, a conference hall and scanning facilities. The second and third floors include 11 office chambers, record rooms, five scanning stations and an additional conference hall. The top floor has an evaluation centre and two multipurpose halls.The campus also includes a single-storey guest house, accommodation for caretakers and security checkpoints.Building construction department secretary Pranav Kumar said bringing the university’s key bodies together on a single campus would improve transparency and institutional efficiency across affiliated engineering colleges in the state.He said specialised scanning and record-keeping facilities would enable faster and more secure evaluation. The centralised infrastructure would replace fragmented operations and help create a more efficient academic environment, he added.The campus has been designed with particular attention to examination-related procedures with dedicated spaces for scanning, evaluation and record storage. The facilities are intended to support the university’s administrative and academic functions while providing a more organised working environment for students, faculty and administrative staff.
