Rewari: A 25-year-old Nepalese national was allegedly stabbed to death during a liquor party at a rented accommodation in Rewari on Friday following a heated altercation, prompting police to detain the suspect and launch a murder investigation.The victim was identified as Govind, a native of Kotagadhi village in Nepal’s Kailali district, who had moved to Rewari a few months ago and worked at a Sector 19 paying guest facility. Police detained the accused, Vikram, who hails from the same village in Nepal and has lived in Rewari with his family for 18 months while working in the Model Town area.According to preliminary inquiries, Govind visited Vikram’s residence on the Raksha Bandhan holiday to attend a gathering that extended late into the night. An altercation broke out after Govind allegedly touched Vikram’s wife inappropriately.The dispute escalated, leading Vikram to allegedly pull out a knife and attack Govind. Vikram’s wife was also injured while trying to intervene.Hearings of the commotion alerted neighbours, who called the police. Govind was rushed to a local trauma centre and subsequently referred to PGIMS Rohtak due to the severity of his injuries, where doctors declared him dead upon arrival.His body is kept at the Rohtak PGI mortuary awaiting the arrival of his family from Nepal—where he is survived by a wife and two children—before the postmortem examination is conducted.Police registered a case against Vikram based on a complaint filed by the landlord. Forensic teams collected evidence from the crime scene under the supervision of Model Town SHO Ratan Lal and DSP Pawan Kumar.
