Patna: The BJP and other NDA partners lashed out at the Congress and other opposition parties after the govt failed to pass the Constitution (131st) Amendment Bill, related to the 33% quota for women in the Lok Sabha and state legislative assemblies on Friday. In strong criticism, senior JD(U) leader and deputy CM Vijay Kumar Choudhary said by stalling Parliament and preventing the bill’s passage, the opposition displayed tyrannical thinking and feudalistic intransigence.“Today, people across the country saw that RJD, Congress and other opposition parties’ age-old conservative mindset to keep the women confined within the four walls. The women of the country will never forgive and allow them to reach Parliament and legislative assemblies,” Choudhary said.Folk singer and BJP MLA Maithili Thakur said the opposition’s “abhorrent anti-women face was exposed to the country”.BJP state president Sanjay Saraogi said, “Blinded by opposition to PM Narendra Modi, the opposition has launched a direct and ruthless assault on the rights of ‘Nari Shakti’. They continued to play politics even during a historic opportunity to empower women. The opposition’s parochial mindset has been exposed.”JD(U) national spokesman Rajeev Ranjan Prasad said the opposition shed water on the decades-old hope for giving women their right. “It’s unfortunate. Congress never did any good for women and this time also revealed its anti-women mindset,” he said.
