Hyderabad: The sleuths of the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Friday arrested a prohibition and excise inspector from Bichkunda in Kamareddy district for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of 2 lakh. The accused, Deenu Satyanarayana, was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe at his rented house in Bichkunda. According to officials, the inspector demanded the bribe from a toddy shop operator in exchange for allowing him to run the business without relocation or registration of new cases.The bribe was also meant to ensure that the complainant would not face any interference from the excise department, an ACB official said. The ACB team also seized an additional unaccounted amount of 45,760 from Satyanarayana’s bag. He will be produced before the Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases at Nampally for judicial remand.Meanwhile, ACB officials urged people to report bribery demands by calling the bureau’s toll-free helpline 1064, sending a message on WhatsApp number 94404 46106, or reaching out through its official handles on X and Facebook. The ACB assured that the complainants’ details will be kept confidential.
