Prayagraj: Passengers travelling through railway stations in the Prayagraj Division will soon be able to buy medicines, milk, stationery, cosmetics and other daily essentials from a single outlet, with North Central Railway (NCR) set to introduce multipurpose stalls at several stations.The railway administration has floated tenders for the stalls, with the bidding process scheduled to be finalised on July 20. In addition, new catering units will also be opened at several stations to enhance passenger amenities.According to PRO Prayagraj Division Amit Kumar Singh, multipurpose stalls are being introduced in phases based on passenger requirements. These outlets will stock a wide range of essential items, including generic medicines, books, magazines, newspapers, dry snacks, milk powder, cosmetics and stationery, enabling passengers to access multiple necessities at one place during their journey.Besides the multipurpose stalls, catering units will be set up at stations including Bharwari, Sonbhadra, Manikpur, Etawah, Aligarh, Mainpuri, Bharthana, Meja Road, Khaga, Iradatganj, Dadri, Khurja and Naini. The facilities will be expanded to other stations in a phased manner.The PRO said tenders for multipurpose stalls have also been issued for Aligarh, Vindhyachal, Phaphund, Fatehpur and Chunar.
