The bureau has requested police departments to publicise the vacancies among eligible retired officers

Chandigarh: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has invited applications from retired inspectors and sub-inspectors of central and state police forces, including Chandigarh Police, for engagement as consultants to handle pairvi work in trial courts for narcotics cases.The bureau plans to fill four consultant posts in its Chandigarh zone and has set July 15 as the last date for submitting applications.According to the NCB, the consultants will be engaged initially for one year, extendable by another year based on performance. The appointment will be subject to the terms and conditions laid down by the ministry of finance, and the consultant should not exceed 65 years of age during the contract period.The bureau has requested police departments to publicise the vacancies among eligible retired officers, stating that their services would strengthen efforts to combat drug trafficking.Applicants must have retired from central or state govt service and possess at least three years’ experience in investigation, prosecution of criminal cases or court duty in criminal courts. They should not have completed more than four years since retirement.The selected consultants will assist law officers and investigating officers in conducting trials effectively. Their responsibilities will include coordinating the production of witnesses, documents and case property before courts, ensuring timely service of judicial processes, obtaining copies of court orders and depositions, and maintaining liaison with prosecution teams and court staff.They will also monitor the progress of assigned cases, submit periodic status reports to the zonal director and report significant judicial developments related to NCB cases.The Chandigarh Police has uploaded the application proforma on its official website to facilitate applications from retired personnel.
