Ranchi: Tamil Nadu, Karnataka & Goa and Odisha emerged champions in their respective categories as the CISCE National Hockey Tournament 2026 (Girls), which concluded in Ranchi on Saturday.Organised by the CISCE Bihar & Jharkhand region (Ranchi zone) and hosted by St Xavier’s School, Doranda, the three-day tournament brought together leading school teams from across the country. Matches in the under-14, under-17 and under-19 categories witnessed spirited competition, disciplined play and closely fought contests.Tamil Nadu began the final day on a winning note, defeating North West 2–0 to lift the under-14 title. In the under-17 final, Karnataka & Goa held their nerve to edge past Maharashtra 1-0 in a closely contested encounter. Odisha completed the championship line-up after securing a narrow 1–0 victory over North West in the under-19 final.Bhola Nath Singh, secretary general of Hockey India and president of Hockey Jharkhand, said tournaments such as these give students more than an opportunity to compete. They help young players develop discipline, leadership, team spirit, confidence and the ability to face challenges.Fr Fuldeo Soreng, principal of St Xavier’s School, said the tournament offered players a valuable platform to showcase their talent while learning life lessons and values that would remain with them beyond the hockey field.
