Patna’s District Legal Services Authority is hosting a National Lok Adalat on March 14 for swift dispute resolution. Cases ranging from minor criminal matters to motor accident claims and bank loan recoveries will be heard. Litigants can settle pending issues with no court fees and legally binding decisions. The initiative aims to encourage mutual settlement over lengthy court battles.

Patna: The District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) will organise a National Lok Adalat on March 14 for speedy resolution of pending disputes.The Adalat to be held at the Patna sadar civil court and sub-divisional courts in Patna City, Danapur, Barh, Masaurhi, and Paliganj, will begin at 10.30am, said a release issued by the district administration.The secretary of the DLSA, Patna, said minor criminal cases, Section 138 NI Act matters, electricity disputes, motor vehicle accident claims, civil suits, weights and measures disputes, labour issues, bank loan recovery and certificate cases would be taken up at the courts.District magistrate (DM) and DLSA vice-chairman Thiyagarajan S M directed officials to conduct extensive publicity throughout the district to ensure maximum participation of the public in the courts.Litigants who wish to settle their pending cases must visit the court where their matter is currently pending on any working day by March 13 to have their matter considered for the Adalat.The release further said the Adalat offers several benefits, as no court fees would be charged for these proceedings, and any fees previously paid for pending cases would be refunded to the parties upon settlement. Decisions reached in the Adalat are final and legally binding, and no appeal can be filed against these orders in any higher court.Applications to participate in the process can be submitted directly to the DLSA in Patna.The DM appealed to all litigants to utilise this opportunity to resolve their disputes through mutual settlement instead of prolonged litigation.
