Aryan Nehra clocked 7:59.36 to better his own record with a ‘best Indian time’ and secure the men’s 800m freestyle gold medal at the National aquatics championships in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

Aryan sliced two seconds off his three-year-old record to earn qualifying standards for both the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games.

B. Benedicton Rohit lowered the National record twice, in heats and final, as he won the men’s 50m butterfly crown with 23.63s. His last year’s record was 24.11, which he erased in the morning.

Rujula S. improved upon her previous year’s women’s 50m freestyle mark by achieving 26.23.

Women: 50m freestyle: Rujula S. (Kar) 26.23 (NMR, Old 26.36, Rujula S., 2025); 200m breaststroke: Saanvi Deshwal (Mah) 2:37.81; 4x200m freestyle relay: Karnataka (Sri Charani Tumu, Shirin, Suhasini Ghosh, Dhinidhi Desinghu) 8:42.48 (NMR, Old 8:52.32, Karnataka, 2025).
