Nagpur: With just 10 days left for voters to submit their Enumeration Forms under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), Nagpur district has inched close to the halfway mark, recording 49.74% digitisation of its electoral database as of Monday. Officials have urged electors who are yet to hand over their completed and signed forms to their respective Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to do so before Aug 8, when the collection phase concludes.The latest district figures show that 23.07 lakh Enumeration Forms have been digitised out of 46.38 lakh electors. While overall pace has picked up steadily over past week, rural-urban gap continues to remain pronounced.The district’s six rural Assembly constituencies have collectively achieved 65.09% digitisation, while the 6 urban constituencies have reached only 36%. Whereas 405 polling parts have completed digitisation, with 128 from Kamptee, 127 from Ramtek.Officials clarified that missing Aug 8 deadline will not permanently shut eligible voters out. However, those who fail to submit their signed Enumeration Forms by then may not find their names in the draft roll to be published on Aug 17 and will have to enter formal claims-and-objections process.Those left out and new voters can seek inclusion by submitting Form 6, along with prescribed declaration and supporting documents, between Aug 17 and Sept 16, following which Electoral Registration Officer will scrutinise their applications before the final roll is published, as per the chief electoral officer.The official document also states applications for inclusion, correction, or deletion must carry a truthful declaration. A false declaration can attract punishment under Section 31 of Representation of the People Act, 1950, including imprisonment of up to one year, a fine, or both.The note clarifies voter registration does not permanently close after the final roll is published on Oct 19. Under continuous updating process, eligible citizens can still apply through Form 6.Among rural segments, Umred (76.63%) and Ramtek (76.52%) are leading the district, followed by Katol (68.22%), Saoner (65.96%), Kamptee (60.95%) and Hingna (52.61%). In the city, Nagpur Central (44.36%) has emerged as the best performer, ahead of Nagpur East (43.70%) and Nagpur South West (38.15%). Nagpur South, continues to remain the slowest at 29.90%, while Nagpur West (30.41%) and Nagpur North (30.69%) have only recently crossed the 30% mark.Officials said nature of work has also evolved over past few days. Instead of fresh house visits, BLOs are now spending time at designated centres and special camps, collecting pending forms.
