Nagpur: The state’s economic survey, released on Thursday, mentions Nagpur and Amravati, the two major cities of Vidarbha region, as growth centres in Maharashtra. Nagpur district has a real gross domestic product of 1.34 lakh crore as on 2024-25, says the survey. This is the inflation-adjusted value of all goods and services produced in the district. This brings Nagpur into the top four districts on this count. As per the survey, the per capita nominal net domestic product for Nagpur district stands at over 3.67 lakh.

Gadchiroli, which is fast shedding its image of a Maoist-affected district, recorded a real gross domestic product of 11,778 crore, and on a per capita basis it stands at 1.56 lakh, which is a steady growth as compared to the previous financial years. Vidarbha has got investments worth over 95,000 crore, with Nagpur division share being over 87,000 crore, through industrial and commercial ventures. This makes Nagpur division second after Pune. Investments are lagging in the Amravati division at 8,719 crore. It is marginally ahead of Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar division that covers Marathwada region. Businesses in the Nagpur division created 1.90 lakh jobs, while it is 28 lakh jobs in the Amravati division, the survey points out.At the same time, Nagpur has over 8.42 lakh MSME units and Amravati 4.84 lakh, employing 35 lakh and 13 lakh persons, respectively.The report also mentions that the House Price Index (HPI) of Nagpur for the second quarter of 2025-26 stood at 112.7, which is at par with the national index. HPI is the pace at which housing rates are growing in a particular district. Nagpur district outpaces Mumbai, Thane and Pune.The survey also puts the number of cattle in the Nagpur district at 2,05,000 and buffaloes at 449,000.
