Hyderabad: A 26-year-old murder case accused was sentenced to life by a local court in LB Nagar on Thursday. The accused, Y Sandeep Kumar (26), from Kolluru in Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh was arrested in a murder and attempt to murder case booked at Miyapur PS in 2022.On December 13, 2022, police received a complaint from the victim alleging that her neighbour Sandeep Kumar was harassing her. The victim was earlier in love with the accused but later she started avoiding him as he started harassing her suspecting her fidelity. At around 10.20 am on December 13, 2022, Sandeep Kumar barged into the victim’s home and attacked her and her mother with a knife. After the assault, Sandeep attempted suicide by slitting his throat.Alerted by the neighbours, police reached the spot and rushed them to nearby hospitals. While undergoing treatment, the complainant’s mother, Shobha, succumbed to injuries on December 14. After he was discharged from the hospital, Miyapur police arrested the accused on December 23. After the trial, the court convicted Sandeep under sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 452 (house-trespass) of the IPC. He was sentenced to life imprisonment along with a ₹25,000 fine.
