Ahmedabad: The city crime branch arrested a 35-year-old man accused in 2017 murder case registered with Kalupur police, police officials said on Monday.The accused, Rakesh Thakor, was arrested after nine years from near Bapunagar crossroads following a tip-off.He is wanted for the murder of Mohan Rabari, who was killed in Hanuman Gali behind Gheekanta Court in 2017. The accused in the case were booked for murder, causing grievous hurt and other offences.During interrogation, police said Rakesh confessed that he and co-accused Naresh Rabari allegedly committed the murder before fleeing Ahmedabad. He then moved to Delhi, where he adopted the alias “Raju” and worked as a truck cleaner and conductor while frequently changing locations across Delhi and Haryana.Investigators said the accused deliberately avoided carrying identity documents or using a mobile phone to evade arrest. Police added that he disclosed being arrested by the Delhi crime branch in a separate case involving the seizure of 2kg of charas, for which he spent two years in Tihar Jail.The accused has been handed over to Kalupur police for further investigation.
