In a tragic twist in Vaishali, a man detained for the alleged murder of his pregnant sister-in-law has made a dire attempt on his own life by ingesting poison while in police custody. Identified as Sahil Patel, he is now under medical care as authorities delve into the heinous crime.

Patna: A man arrested for allegedly killing his pregnant sister-in-law, Radha Kumari, 26, attempted suicide by consuming poison in police custody in Vaishali on Sunday. The accused, Sahil Patel, is undergoing treatment at a hospital in Patna.Radha’s body was found on April 11 at her home in Mouna Bishnupur village under Belsar police station. Police said the accused allegedly tried to rape the woman and strangled her when she resisted. He later called police claiming responsibility and was arrested late Saturday night.Investigation indicated prior interaction between the two, raising suspicion of a personal dispute. After his arrest, the accused allegedly consumed poison at the police station and was rushed to a hospital before being referred to Patna. His condition is stable.A family member said, “I cooked food and left for work. The daughter-in-law was alone at home. Meanwhile, Sahil came and tried to force himself on her. When the daughter-in-law resisted, he strangled her. I found her body lying in the courtyard after returning home.”Vaishali SP Vikram Sihag said, “The accused attempted to consume something by taking it out of his pocket. He was immediately rushed to a hospital. His condition is stable.”
