Vadodara: Maharaja Sayajirao University (MSU) has admitted 109 international students from 31 countries for the academic year 2026-27, with Bangladesh accounting for the highest number of admissions, followed by Tanzania and Sri Lanka.University officials said the admission process is still underway and the number of foreign students is expected to increase further. According to the office of international affairs (OIA), Bangladesh has the largest contingent with 23 students, followed by Tanzania (11), Sri Lanka (9), Mozambique (7), Botswana and Nepal (6 each) and Ghana and Myanmar (5 each).Students have also enrolled from Angola, Bhutan, Brazil, Burundi, Djibouti, Eswatini, Gambia, Indonesia, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Lesotho, Madagascar. They have further enrolled from Mauritius, Namibia, Papua New Guinea, Russia, Rwanda, South Africa, Tajikistan, Uganda, the United States, Zambia and Zimbabwe.The Faculty of Technology and Engineering has attracted the highest number of international admissions with 31 students, followed by the Faculty of Science (20), Performing Arts (19), Arts (17) and Education and Psychology (9). The Faculties of Family and Community Sciences and Social Work have admitted five students each. The Faculty of Journalism and Communication has admitted two students while the Faculty of Fine Arts admitted one student.Dr Ranjitsinh Devkar, in-charge director of the OIA, said the admissions reflected the university’s growing international visibility and academic appeal. He said the university remained committed to providing a supportive academic environment for international students and that the admission process is continuing.Prof Hitesh D. Raviya, officer on special duty (Public Relations and Communication), said the presence of students from diverse countries enriches the university’s multicultural academic environment and reflects the increasing global recognition of its academic programmes. University officials said necessary academic and administrative support would be extended to help international students settle into campus life.
