Hyderabad: A woman allegedly attacked her two children with a knife late Saturday night in Thokkapuram village, Bhuvanagiri mandal, Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district.The attack resulted in the death of her 14-year-old daughter, while her 11-year-old son managed to escape. The woman later attempted suicide and is currently undergoing treatment in a critical condition.According to SI Anil Kumar, Neelima (40), originally from Jainapalli village in Bibinagar mandal, was married to Bejjanki Narendra Reddy about 15 years ago. The couple had two children: a daughter, Krithika (14), and a son, Akshit Reddy (11). Neelima reportedly experienced mental health issues for some time.The SI said the incident occurred while the children were asleep at home on Saturday night. Neelima attacked both of them with a knife. Krithika sustained severe injuries during the assault and died on the spot. Meanwhile, Akshit managed to escape from the room and ran out of the house, thereby avoiding serious harm. However, Narendra had escaped the attack as he was sleeping in another room.After attacking the children, Neelima attempted to take her own life by hanging. Family members and local residents noticed the situation and immediately intervened. They brought her down and rushed her to a nearby private hospital for treatment. Doctors reportedly described her condition as critical,” the SI added.Following information about the incident, police reached the spot and conducted a preliminary investigation. The body of the deceased girl was shifted for post-mortem examination. Authorities have registered a case and are continuing their inquiry to determine the exact circumstances that led to the attack.
