Panaji: In view of the hostilities in West Asia, most flights to the Gulf region from Goa have been cancelled till March 28. Air India Express and Qatar Airways have said that all flights to Dubai and Doha respectively till March 28 have been cancelled. The airlines have asked fliers to check for updates about refunds, rescheduling and other options.Gulf Air has cancelled its flights from Goa International Airport, Dabolim, to Bahrain till March 26. Qatar has cancelled its flight to Doha from the Manohar International Airport, Mopa, till March 28. However, Air Arabia’s flight to Sharjah from the Manohar International Airport continues to operate. The decision comes after DGCA advised airlines to avoid airspace over nine West Asian countries, including Iran, Iraq, Israel, UAE and Qatar, amid rising tensions and recent military strikes. Flights over Oman and Saudi Arabia are being allowed under stringent precautions.Iran’s attacks on public infrastructure like airports, oil refineries and commercial buildings have disrupted flights across the Gulf. The disruptions have left thousands of travellers stranded across Goa and India, and forced passengers travelling to Europe to explore convoluted routes to return to their families and workplaces.
