Kanpur: The city witnessed light to moderate rainfall in several areas on Sunday morning, providing relief to residents from the prevailing sultry weather.The morning showers, coupled with overcast skies, made the weather pleasant. However, humidity levels remained high during the afternoon.The maximum temperature dropped by 3.2 degrees Celsius and settled at 31.2 degrees Celsius. Light drizzle during the night brought the minimum temperature down to 25.4 degrees Celsius, making conditions comparatively comfortable.Relative humidity was recorded at 92%, while north-westerly winds blowing at speeds ranging from 2.8 kmph to 6.1 kmph also provided some relief.The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast light to moderate rain and thundershowers across all districts of the Kanpur division during the next 24 hours. According to the forecast, cloudy and humid conditions are likely to prevail across the region.According to S N Sunil Pandey, weather expert at CSA University, an average rainfall of 4.5 mm has been recorded so far.Pandey said increased atmospheric moisture and the formation of new weather systems are likely to keep the Kanpur division under cloudy skies between Aug 17 and 19.While occasional sunshine may break through during this period, humid conditions are expected to persist.
