Gurgaon: MCG officials inspected key waterlogging-prone areas as part of pre-monsoon preparedness measures after being nudged by state industries and commerce minister Rao Narbir Singh at a meeting on Monday.The work has to be completed before June 15. He said that all departments must ensure necessary arrangements within the stipulated deadline so that city residents do not face any kind of inconvenience during the rainy season.Following a directive from MCG commissioner Vivek Dahiya, a team led by additional commissioner Pooja Chanwaria reviewed the condition of drainage systems at Basai Road, Sector 9A, New Colony, Madanpuri Road, Sector 7, Beri Wala Bagh, Shivaji Nagar and Rajnagar Chowk. She directed engineers to complete the cleaning of drains, repair damaged infrastructure and ensure availability of resources before the onset of monsoon.

Officials have been asked to ensure that preventive measures are implemented on time to minimise disruption to residents during the rainy season.Chanwaria also reviewed the sanitation in these areas. Officials have been directed to ensure garbage collection occurs on time and cleanliness is maintained so as to prevent clogging of drainage systems, which often contributes to waterlogging during heavy rain.She warned that negligence at any level would not be tolerated and stressed accountability in the execution of the planned measures.MCG faces recurring complaints of waterlogging in several parts of the city during monsoon, which causes traffic disruptions and inconvenience for residents.
