Kanpur: A man accused of stealing mobile phones was allegedly subjected to inhuman torture, including having his head shaved, half his moustache cut off and being paraded through a village wearing a garland of shoes and slippers, in Unnao’s Pathakpur village under the Aasivan police station area. Police arrested a father and son after a video of the Sunday incident went viral on social media on Monday evening.According to police, the mobile phones of Raju and his son Raj of Pathakpur village were stolen on the night of July 30. Police said they accused Sonu, a resident of the same village, of stealing the mobile phones.While accusing him of stealing the mobile phones, Raju and Raj caught hold of Sonu, tied a rope to his hand, shaved his head and cut off half his moustache. Police said they then put a garland of shoes and slippers around his neck and paraded him through the entire village.Police said someone recorded a video of the incident and, after it went viral on social media on Sunday, the police department took cognisance of the matter. Aasivan police investigated the viral video and identified the place of the incident and the accused, police said.CO Bangarmau Harsh Modi said a case was registered under various sections, including kidnapping, and both the accused arrested.
