Patna: Magadh Mahila College (MMC), a constituent unit of Patna University (PU), on Saturday inaugurated a day care centre, a revamped healthcare centre and an open gym on its campus, marking a significant step towards creating a more supportive and health-conscious environment.PU vice-chancellor Ajay Kumar Singh inaugurated the facilities in the presence of MMC principal Nagendra Prasad Verma, proctor Suraj Deo Singh, dean of students’ welfare Kameshwar Pandit and students.The day care centre features child-friendly infrastructure, educational toys, secure play areas and modern amenities for infants and toddlers from the university community. The facility is aimed at helping working parents, particularly women, balance their professional and academic responsibilities with childcare.The vice-chancellor said the initiative would help address the challenges faced by working parents and strengthen gender equity and institutional welfare on campus.The upgraded healthcare centre will provide primary healthcare and emergency response services. It also has a dedicated observation ward and trained nursing staff.The open gym, located in a green area of the campus, is equipped with weather-resistant fitness equipment, including chest presses, pull-up bars, sit-up benches, cross-trainers and air adventurers. It is intended to encourage students, teachers and staff to incorporate regular physical activity into their daily routine.The three facilities reflect the college’s focus on employee welfare, student well-being and the creation of a healthier and more inclusive campus, the principal said.
