Hazaribag: Hazaribag MLA Pradip Prasad on Thursday questioned the construction of a floating restaurant in the middle of the city’s iconic lake and urged the administration to consider relocating the project, citing public concerns over its impact on the water body and local sentiments.The MLA said residents had raised objections to the proposed floating restaurant and toilet facility, particularly because the lake serves as an important venue for Chhath Puja. He said, “Public opinion should be taken into account before any decision is implemented. The work should be kept pending for the time being.”Prasad also said he was working on a larger plan for the development and beautification of Hazaribag’s lake system. He said efforts were underway to secure funds for developing the lake area on the lines of Gujarat’s Kankaria Lake project.Calling Hazaribag lake the “heart of the city”, the MLA expressed concern over siltation reducing its water-holding capacity. He said, “Development works should focus on conservation and beautification without compromising the lake’s ecology or public interests.”
