Jamshedpur: Sustainable technologies, resource efficiency and waste valorisation are critical to tackling climate change and meeting the growing demand for critical metals, experts said at the inaugural session of Circularity Conference (CIRCON 2026) in Jamshedpur on Thursday.Speaking at the conference themed “Reimagining Valorisation through Innovation & Entrepreneurship” at Beldih Club, former NITI Aayog member and Padma Bhushan awardee V K Saraswat stressed the need for innovative approaches to address circularity challenges and reduce carbon footprints.Tata Steel vice-president (corporate services) D B Sundara Ramam highlighted the company’s focus on 100% utilisation of coal and its by-products, including ash, as part of its resource-efficiency efforts. NIT Jamshedpur director Goutam Sutradhar underscored the importance of recovery, reuse and responsible disposal of resources amid rising industrial growth and consumption.The conference has brought together experts from industry, academia, research institutions and startups to discuss sustainable resource utilisation and the transition to a circular economy. It is being organised by Tata Steel in association with Indian Institute of Metals (IIM), CSIR-NML and Indian Ceramic Society.
