Panchkula: In a poignant act of courage amid personal tragedy, the family of an Army personnel’s wife, who was declared brain dead at Command Hospital, Chandimandir, chose to give others a second chance at life by donating her organs.The family’s decision set in motion a race against time on Wednesday, with Panchkula police creating two green corridors within minutes to ensure the life-saving organs reached their destinations without delay.One kidney was transported from Command Hospital to PGIMS Rohtak, while the heart was rushed to Chandigarh airport, from where a retrieval team of a private Hospital took custody of it for transplantation. Every passing minute mattered.To make the journey seamless, Panchkula traffic police cleared and secured dedicated routes, allowing the ambulances to move unhindered through busy city roads. Police personnel were deployed at key intersections, traffic was regulated in real time, and constant coordination was maintained with neighbouring districts to ensure a smooth passage.According to DCP Aditi Singh, a green corridor was created from Chandimandir through Panchkula towards Rohtak for the kidney transplant. Simultaneously, another corridor was established from Command Hospital through Old Panchkula up to the Zirakpur border to facilitate the transport of the heart to Chandigarh airport.Under the supervision of traffic SHO Varinder Kumar, police teams monitored both routes closely, ensuring the ambulances encountered no obstruction.
