Patiala: Punjabi singer and actor Ammy Virk’s father, Kuljeet Singh, on Wednesday dismissed initial media reports claiming that the artiste or his personal vehicle were targeted in a shooting in Canada, confirming that Virk is safe and unhurt.The statement follows an investigation by the Abbotsford police department into a late-night drive-by shooting in British Columbia on Sept 5. The incident took place in the 2500-block of McCallum Road around 11pm, shortly after Virk concluded a performance at Rogers Forum as part of his 2026 tour.According to initial reports, occupants of a dark-coloured SUV fired approximately seven to ten rounds at a moving vehicle travelling within the concert convoy. No injuries were reported.Kuljeet Singh, who is also the sarpanch of Lohar Majra village, Patiala, said, “Reports claiming that shots were fired at Ammy or his car are incorrect. My elder son Bhagwant speaks to Ammy daily and he confirmed that the firing incident did not involve Ammy’s vehicle. The incident was reportedly linked to the organisers and promoters managing the show,”Shortly after the shooting, emergency services located an SUV engulfed in flames in the 2400-block of Sunnyside Place, roughly 5 km from the scene. The Major Crime Unit is investigating whether the torched vehicle is connected to the shooting. The Abbotsford police department withheld the names of the vehicle’s occupants, citing privacy protocols.
