Ahmedabad: A small fire involving a temporary cabin structure was reported outside the aircraft movement area at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport (SVPIA) in Ahmedabad on Sunday afternoon, airport authorities said. The incident took place in a temporary cabin structure, as is learnt from sources.According to an official spokesperson, the incident was reported at 2.43pm and was swiftly handled by the airport’s emergency response teams.Authorities confirmed that no injuries were reported in the incident and the fire was contained quickly.Airport officials also clarified that the incident occurred outside the operational aircraft movement zone and did not impact airport operations.“A small fire involving a temporary cabin structure was reported outside the aircraft movement area of Ahmedabad Airport at 14:43 hrs today. Aerodrome Rescue & Fire Fighting teams responded immediately and brought the situation under control within minutes,” the spokesperson said.“All airport operations, including flight movements, remain normal and were not affected,” the spokesperson added. Emergency teams conducted precautionary checks in the surrounding area to ensure that the situation was fully under control, sources told TOI.Officials said the cause of the fire is currently being examined.
