Times News NetworkLudhiana: Three minor friends from Mundian Khurd area were allegedly riding a motorcycle at high speed near Neechi Mangli crossing on Chandigarh Road when their bike crashed into a stationary truck on Sunday night. The victims suffered critical injuries and one of them died. The other two are in serious condition. The incident took place at around 9.40pm on Sunday. As the three youths were lying in a pool of blood, Ludhiana mayor Inderjit Kaur happened to be passing by the area. She noticed the injured youngsters and called an ambulance. The deceased boy has been identified as Karan, 14. The injured boys are Shivam, 14, and Krishan, 15—all three residents of Mundian Khurd. According to an eyewitness, Karan was riding the bike at high speed from Neechi Mangli towards Kohara.ASI Gurbakhshish Singh, in-charge, Ramgarh police post, said that according to Karan’s father, Sham Singh, Karan and his two friends, Shivam and Krishan, were going to Kohara for fuel. Karan was driving the bike while Shivam and Krishan were riding pillion.“The minor boys, who were riding at high speed, crashed into a stationary truck near Neechi Mangli crossing on the main Chandigarh Road. There was proper lighting at the spot, so there is no possibility that the boys did not see the truck. It is suspected that the victim had lost control of the bike and crashed into the truck. On the other hand, the truck driver is also at fault for parking the vehicle on the road, posing a threat,” said the ASI.He added that the police have lodged an FIR against the truck driver for causing death by negligence.
