Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party govt in Punjab has set a clear benchmark on accountability by ordering the arrest of its own minister Laljit Bhullar following serious allegations, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy against corruption, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal stated in a press statement on Monday.Lauding the “decisive step”, Kejriwal stated that when it comes to justice, the AAP does not hesitate to act even against its own. The BJP, on the other hand, chooses to shield its own leaders even in the face of grave allegations, he said while citing the suicide case of an ADGP in Haryana.Taking to X, Kejriwal posted: “Recently, serious allegations were made against a minister in the AAP govt in Punjab. Our govt, without any delay or bias, took immediate action against that minister, not only removing him from his post but also ensuring his arrest.”“Some time ago, an ADGP in Haryana died by suicide. Serious allegations were made against several individuals, but the entire party and the govt there came out in support of the accused. This is the difference between the AAP and the BJP. When it comes to justice, the AAP does not hesitate to take action even against a minister in its own govt, whereas the BJP sacrifices justice to protect its own,” he added.
