T’puram: Water resources minister Roshy Augustine on Saturday will inaugurate the comprehensive drinking water project completed by Kerala Water Authority for the Anad, Nandiyode, Kurupuzha and Palode panchayats in the Vamanapuram constituency.An official statement said the drinking water project for Anad, Kurupuzha, and Palode includes the Palode intake well and pump house, an 11.50 MLD water treatment plant and a 10 lakh litre reservoir at Anakkuzhi. It also includes a distribution network from the Anakkuzhi reservoir to Nandiyode panchayat, a 6.25 lakh litre surface water reservoir completed under Jal Jeevan Mission for Anad and Nandiyode panchayats, a distribution network from that reservoir to Anad panchayat and domestic drinking water connections for both panchayats. The project is being implemented in three phases. Due to a significant reduction and eventual cessation of central financial assistance for NRDWP projects since 2016, funding inadequacy affected the completion of the approved project. For the remaining works of the project, administrative approval for Rs 16 crore was received in Aug 2018 under the state plan. TNN
